Malaysia: "Free Palastine"

In a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people's struggle, Pos Malaysia launched a special "Palestin Merdeka" stamp. I'm very happy to receive this FDC from my friend Henry in Malaysia. This was by the way the third time after 1978 and 1982 that stamps related to Palestine were issued from Pos Malaysia. Henry also send me a Postal stationery which was issued, too.

Malaysia: "Malaysian Citrus - FDC"

On April 24th Pos Malaysia issued a stamp series featuring the well-known lime flavours frequently used in Malaysian cooking. The three stamps issued - and seen on the first cover - are the Calamondin Lime or Limau Kasturi (60sen), Kaffir Lime or Limau Purut (60sen) and Key Lime or Limau Nipis (60sen). A very nice minisheet was also issued. It can be send on the second cover. The sheet is printed with a gloss varnish finishing to accentuate the pomelo’s flesh. I'm very happy to receive both official FDC's.

Malaysia: Malaysian Primates (Year of the Monkey)

Some days ago I received this nice envelope from Malaysia. On the envelope I received the set of Malaysian Primates to celebrate The Years of the Monkey. The collection features illustrations of four primate species which could be found in the Malaysian forest, namely the Silvered Leaf Monkey, Macaque, White-handed Gibbon, and Agile Gibbon.

With this nice envelope I received several other things. First of all is this nice card from Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the national capital and most populous global city in Malaysia. The city covers an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.6 million as of 2010. Greater Kuala Lumpur, covering similar area as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.5 million people as of 2012. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in South-East Asia, in terms of population and economy. In the left background you can see the famous Petronas Twintowers of Kuala Lumpur.

I also received with this envelope the full mint set of Hong Kong's Year of the Monkey Issue:

And last but not least, also the full mint set of Singapore's Year of the Monkey Issue in a nice presentation pack:

Many Thanks for this great stuff to GK!

Malaysia: 175 Years of the First Postage Stamp - One Penny Black

This great shaped card arrived some days ago. It shows some traditional malaysian clothes. Baju is the term for clothing in the Malay language. Since Malaysia comprises three major cultures: Malay, Chinese and Indian, each culture has its own traditional and religious articles of clothing all of which are gender specific and may be adapted to local influences and conditions. Traditional Malay attire for men is the baju melayu, a loose tunic which is worn over trousers and usually accompanied with a sarong called a sampin which is wrapped around the hips. It is also often accompanied with a songkok or cap. Malay women wear the baju kurung, a knee-length blouse worn over a long skirt. The blouse is long-sleeved and collarless, while the skirt, called a kain, has pleats on one side. A headscarf is sometimes worn with this. Another popular traditional costume is the kebaya, a more tight-fitting two-piece dress. This is often considered less formal.

On the back with a great stamp:

Malaysia: Cameron Highlands

The Cameron Highlands (Malay: Tanah Tinggi Cameron) is one of Malaysia’s most extensive hill stations. The size of Singapore, it occupies an area of 712 square kilometres (275 sq mi). To the north, its boundary touches that of Kelantan; to the west, it shares part of its border with Perak. Situated at the northwestern tip of Pahang, the “Camerons” is approximately 90 kilometres (56 mi) from Ipoh or about 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Kuala Lumpur. In 1885 it was discovered by Sir William Cameron.
